#247,424 Paid in Kindle Store (See Top 100 Paid in Kindle Store)

All charts. Nothing but charts. I had no clue there was so much to see in charts. The charts are explained very clearly. It wasn't exactly what I was looking for but this book really is what the cover says it is, charts, charts, and more charts.

It's a good book on chart statistics and charting for day to long term trades, I would not recommend for a beginner because you will get confused better suited for an intermediate or experience trader or investor who wants an overview of statistics and some trading and investment pointers

I red the book about two months ago and then I went to my charts and draw every pattern I saw ... In fact , they do work pretty well . Patterns were a good complement for my technical analysis .

I'm an options trader, so timing is everything in my business. This book is not the be all and end all of chart patterns. This is the book to Get you Started in Chart Patterns. It is the best Getting Started Book I've read, though I did enjoy Candlestick Charting as well by Tina Lagon.Yes, he does advertise his more expensive books, The Encyclopedia of Chart Patterns and Trading Classic Chart Patterns, but you know what, they are all completely worth it. They were my next logical step in my education to learn about charting. Stock charts tell you everything you need to know about people's opinion's of companies. I personally still use some basic fundamentals along the line of CANSLIM, because I believe a strong company gets an even better opinion with people, though I do play shere technical swings.I have become quite good with the help of equipment like [...], which gives you a semi-realtime candle of what the chart is doing. Using the methods in this book and his other books, I have been able to rock the market, protect my wins, get out with small losses, and make a very good amount of money.Thomas Bulkowski is not the greatest writer I've read, but, he's most certainly the most elaborate when it comes to the statistics of patterns, which I must say has given me huge help in securing greats amount of profits. On Wednesday I bought PPO, on thursday, I sold half my position getting my money back, and securing me a profit no matter what happens. The stock promptly fell, and I've been holding as the stock picked up. It all started with this book. Not only does it give you information on what to look for with successful patterns but what to look for with failing patterns. Like I did this week, when I bought a put in NGLS, thinking it formed a bear flag. I got out with a 1,500 dollar loss.Start with this book, and keep studying, no one can master the market, you can only be a constant student of it. And this book will help you start to get ahead of the class.

This guide for technical stock analysis is fantastic and a must for those who want to decipher stock charts. I now have my top 10 buy and sell technical signals which I've already put to use and my personal investment benefit.

For any trader, especially a position trader with a several week-months time horizon, this book is an absolute must. What makes it unique is that Bulkowski has accumulated statistical data for each of the numerous chart patterns he describes. This serves to suggest the best patterns, in general, to use and the kind of returns one can expect. Since trading success is essentially determined by looking for situations where the odds are in your favor, and acting appropriately, this is one of the best books around.Bulkowski is an ex-engineer turned successful trader. His background shows. Although patterns are somewhat subjective he has done a great job of describing them in pretty objective terms. For the eager enthusiast there is a danger that the huge number of chart patterns discussed will leave him confused -- too many tools in the toolbox. Therefore, this kind of trader might be better off selecting just a few and becoming thoroughly familiar with those. Also, one might select a number of issues, say 10-20, with good fundamentals and look at each seeing which of the chosen tools seems to work best.Bulkowski has also written an "encyclopedia" of chart patterns which I have not seen. It is hard to imagine anything more thorough than the "Getting Started" book reviewed here. His explanations are lucid and thorough. That said, there are several cautions necessary. His statistics and case examples come from data gathered at various points over the last 20-25 years. Therefore, when he says there is a certain "probability" of a breakout which would rise, on average, say 15%, you have to ask yourself if this is still true. The book essentially assumes that there is no meaningful change in market behaviors over time. I'd be careful here.Bulkowski calls himself an end-of-day trader. Yet many of us have been told repeatedly that patterns work regardless of the time period (minutes, days, weeks etc.). I would be extremely cautious here. Most of the charts are daily and the patterns discussed might not be as useful for day traders or long term (several years)investors. To be fair, from Bulkowski's examples and stories you get this impression although I did not find him saying this specifically in most cases.Further, there is an element of subjectivity not really explained. For instance, when he says he looks at 407 "pennants" we don't know how objective this selection was and whether he missed others that would contravert his statistics. How he does it is somewhat left to the reader's imagination. Similarly, while he does a great job of giving out averages and similar statistics, there is no backup to check if it was done correctly. And, it is possible that more sophisticated statistics would be more useful. Nevertheless, if we assume that these are honest statistics, they are much better than nothing at all. This a great improvement over most books on charting.I have the Kindle edition and think you should spend the additional $3.50 for the paper version. The reason is two-fold. First, the charts shown are clear but awefully small. Second, this is the kind of book where you want to mark up and digest the charts and comments at some length. That's difficult on Kindle. This book is one you would want to refer back to again and again rather than just reading from start to finish, much easier with paper. On balance, I think this book is a unique contribution to the trader's library. I think the statistics generally hold up, as in his ranking of the various patterns. But, too fine a point should not be put on the numbers themselves. I fear that a reader might follow the book's statements too closely, thus taking on more risk than justified in today's market. There is also the risk that the enthusiastic reader will fail to look at other technical indicators. Bulkowski is always cautious about looking for "confirmations" but these appear to be elements only of the price chart.I would give this book five stars but for the Kindle limitations and the book's failure to point out the limitations mentioned above. Still, buy it.

I have been interested in stock market trading for a long time. Mr. Bulkowski is the first author I have encountered who is extremely realistic about the risks involved in trading. He is frank about the reality that you will most likely lose money in trading. I appreciate that honesty. That said, he gives one tools about how to maximize profits and minimize losses, so that one can come out ahead overall. This is an extremely readable book, artfully crafted with his fictional character to keep the reader engaged while learning important points about trading. This is a very helpful book to one who is beginning, yet is a book for advanced traders to keep close for constant reference. I have read it cover to cover, and still refer to it frequently.I have found very useful information on Mr. Bulkowski's website, to which another reviewer refers. That review spoke volumes about his website, so there is no need to expound further on it here.
