My daughter loves reading about animals. I mean to the point where we are almost frustrated with the constant quest for more information and details that the common parent just doesn't know... So we really love the NatGeo Kids books. They're so informative, yet written in a way that my six-year-old can understand without a ton of (research and then) explanations from us.(Not that we don't want to learn or mind reading with her, but we're far from biology majors or doctors... So we're really out of our comfort zone and end up doing a lot of Google-ing and "research" on our own just to answer her questions!)Anyways, although my daughter is comfortable reading at about a 3rd grade / 9 yr-old reading level, the different numbered readers usually don't bore her too much... Especially when it's a NatGeo type one. So I didn't hesitate to get this Level 2 Dolphins book for her, even though I figured it would be a shorter read for her.I did not expect that it would be less than a 10 minute read though. And, surprisingly, it really did have all that much information for her. She was pretty disappointed and, as a mom, that didn't exactly make me happy about the purchase.If your child is a newer reader and has a mild interest in the very basics of dolphins, you might be okay with this one. If he/she is a higher reader or the kind that craves to know everything about a specific thing - spend the extra couple bucks and get the "National Geographic Kids Everything Dolphins" book!! You'll be grateful that you did!!

The book is good and very informative. My only complaint is that is small and lacks information on specific types of dolphins that are pictured. So when my son asks me "What type of dolphin is that?" .., I have no idea because the book is just a general overview of dolphins in general.

A great book of knowledge for children to read and learn about Dolphins. We bought this along with a Dolphin trainer set and my daughter has been learning so much about the animal she loves most. The sentences are really easy for a 7 year old to read and she read it from start to finish when we gave it to her and pick it up at least once a week. Great idea to have National Geographics for kids.

We own quite a few of the national geographic readers and we love them all. They are appropriately laid out for young readers, my daughter loves the riddles/jokes and she loves learning interesting facts about the animals and sharing them with the family. I am very pleased with this purchase and will continue to buy others in the series.

These books are great for children who are beginning to read and also those who are read to. The photos are graphic but realistic. We have bought several of these about animals, but also the ones about space. I highly recommend them.

My daughter loves all different types of animals and fish and I was so excited to get this book for her. She has already read it twice, and loves the pictures and all the new information in it. The quality of the book pages are nice and it is very educational. We have both learnt a lot reading this book. Definately worth it!

Great book. Perfect for the child who wants to know everything about everything. My son is really enjoying this book about dolphins. The pictures and descriptions are spot on. He learned a lot about dolphins in this perfect paper back.

I bought this as part of birthday gift for a nine year old girl. In addition I purchased a Barbie I Can Be Splash and Spin Dolphin doll. I thought some educational material would offset the total frivolity of the doll. It apparently worked. Her mom told me that her daughter had been on the computer everyday for a week researching dolphins.

As someone who has been in tech for many years, but relatively new to the Data Governance area, in order to get the knowledge I need to execute on my job, I've probably read around 15 books on various DG topics. Of those, a handful stand out as a book I keep coming back to. It's very well laid out and gives a much more modern view verses many of the other books out there. It accounts for the big data and advanced analytics trends in ways other books don't touch. I highly recommend this book. I had initially hesitated because the author is employed for a major vendor in the space. However, you will find the book full of practical content (and not a sales pitch for a data governance tool). You won't regret having it in your library as the book is quite different than any other out there I've read around data.

This book is written as a guide to proper implementation of data management methods and procedures for modern data usage and exploitation. The first few chapters lay the groundwork and delve into the need for a new approach to data management that embraces analytics. Then, in Chapter 3, the authors guide the reader through steps to assess their current conditions, controls and capabilities with regard to their data. The material here can be quite helpful to assist you in gauging where your organization falls in terms of data maturity. Chapter 4, which chronicles the detailed activities involved in building a data and analytics framework comprises about a quarter of the book and this chapter alone can give you a good ROI on your book purchase.Chapter 8 is also well done. It addresses data governance as an operations process, giving advice and a framework for successful data governance. If you are at all involved in your organization’s data management and analytics practice, do yourself a favor and grab a copy of this book today.

Similar to the other Data Governance books I've read, this one is also very verbose, staying away from concrete use cases, littering pages with hypothetical situations and executive summary type of snapshots from data governance implementations.Nevertheless, this one is at least more up to date, and a bit easier to follow. Pages and pages of action items are presented in a logical (and somewhat overwhelming) order, without providing a detailed example of what an end result would like, but still I consider this book's style slightly more digestible without sacrificing details.The book also briefly mentions big data related issues but in a very superficial manner, so you'll definitely need to rely on other sources.The part on Business Glossary is very detailed and provides a thorough overview of building a business glossary, and even is brave enough to mention the concept of 'ontology'. It is also good the relevant standards are shown, so that the reader can know where to turn to for precise definitions. The fact that authors have dedicated 20 pages to this topic shows how important they consider this aspect of data governance.If you are a practicing Data Officer or head of analytics, this book belongs in your bookshelf, and on your desk, to be referenced regularly, so that you can internalize the concepts and the lessons it shows. Also, when faced with various challenges in the intersection of business and IT, a second or third reading of some of the chapters might as well be useful.
