I love having the kindle version right on my phone, So handy for meetings or a quick inspirational hit when needed. I didn't give it five starts because the kindle version does not come with an index. I have a specific need to use the index when working with sponsees so this was a disappointment.

Pros: Kindle version is accurate and spell checked as opposed to some non-authorized app versions. This version is approved by AA World Services.Cons: Kindle reader does not allow tracking of hard copy page numbers. This is important to those who cite page numbers when referring to specific passages. Less of an impact with this book since it is indexed by day.

There is power in choosing to surrender our lives and our wills to the care of God. I find including DAILY REFLECTIONS on my morning time of setting my mind on Christ I find encouragement. My sobriety is primary in accomplishing my goal of living a selfless life and sharing the message of hope with others.

Love this book for 12-step recovery daily meditations. I don't often use it for topics for meetings because so many people read it daily anyway. I love that I can look for a specific topic at the back of the book. I have the kindle version and a hard copy of the book. Most of the time I use my hard copy of it but it's nice being able to also access the book anytime anyplace on the Kindle app on my phone.

This is a MUST HAVE for anyone in AA! It could be easily applied to any other addiction or even just living life in general. I LOVE it and don't go one day without reading it!

I like this book very much and use it everyday. I am in recovery and have worked the 12 Steps of AA. This book is based on the 12 steps with readings for each day. January starts with Step 1 and so on through December at Step 12. It is very helpful for daily mediation.

Joel Samaha is University Distinguished Teaching Professor of Sociology at the University of Minnesota, where he teaches Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure. He received his B.A. (History), J.D., and Ph.D. (History) from Northwestern University and studied under Sir Geoffrey Elton at Cambridge University, England. Professor Samaha was admitted to the Illinois Bar, briefly practiced law in Chicago, and then taught at UCLA. In 1971, he joined the University of Minnesota, where he served as Chair of the Department of Criminal Justice Studies for four years, taught television and radio courses in criminal justice, co-taught a National Endowment for the Humanities seminar in legal and constitutional history, was named College of Liberal Arts Distinguished Teacher in 1974, and named University Distinguished Teaching Professor in 2007. Professor Samaha's works have appeared in Historical Journal, American Journal of Legal History, Minnesota Law Review, William Mitchell Law Review, and Journal of Social History.

Very disappointed! I ordered a used hardcover book and received only the pages inside the book, no cover. They were kind enough to punch 3 holes in the pages so I could put it in a binder. Not worth the $90 they charged. I need the textbook now so I can’t return it. Won’t buy here again!

Used this for my Criminal Procedure course. Needed it for open book tests, other than that I didn't really study out of it. Has a ton of cases in there.

I was nervous because it had been so long since I had read the Gideon series. Not because I didn't think it was a good read (because everything EJD writes is good), but because Gideon had been gone so long. Didn't know if he would still have his pizazz from the first 3 books. EJD accepted my challenge and Gideon was bigger, better and stronger than ever. This book was so well written I forgot that Gideon had ever left at all. Reading this book was better than watching any action movie I've ever seen. We've found Gideon... some of us are happy about that, others are sad. My question is... when will we see him again?

Wow! You've done it again!! I have lost count on how many times I've read the first four books because they're awesome and in anticipation of finally the next (not last) book of the series.. And in anticipation of Finding Gideon, I reread all four books again and loved that FG picks up literally right after Resurrecting Midnight. This is classic EJD, taking the reader on a ride so to the point, you see, smell, taste and can see the places. Each time I had to pause my reading, it felt as though I was pausing a movie and couldn't wait to unpause...Now I'm going to go back and read it again because like any good movie, I know I've missed something the first time. Among all the character returns, I LOVED seeing the Bajan from A Wanted Woman....can't wait for more!!!!

EJD Has Done It Again! The wait for Gideon to reunite with Mr. Midnight was everything and more! The battles were epic and the unanswered questions of where and who's my mother and father were answered. I had to slow my reading because I didn't want it to end yet but still hunger ed for the rest of the story. Gideon has like 100 lives with the cure of the trusted BC Powder. Awww I need Gideon to rest but hopefully he reappears even if he gets to be a normal guy. Maybe his brothers will join him. Thank you EJD for the Ride! Magnificent Until next time Gideon ♡♡♡

Finding Gideon picked up right where Resurrecting Midnight left off with Gideon trying to escape Argentina in one piece. I enjoyed seeing the past through Midnight's eyes as he regained the memories he'd lost when he was shot. I also enjoyed learning a little more about Gideon and the lies his mother told him. The problems in his life stemmed from his mother and I think they will end with her. There were a lot of details in this book and a lot of them didn't move the story forward. I think I would have enjoyed it more if he'd cut out some of the extra details and at least ended the book with Gideon actually arriving in Yerres to find some of the answers to his questions but I guess I'll just have to wait for the next book.

Thank you for finally releasing the next installment of the Gideon series. Oh, how I longed for him so. My passion to see this character come back to life equalled that of Miss Jones and Miss Mack. Well, in this book Gideon is thrust head on facing the demons that haunt him daily and the ones lurking to assassinate him at any given moment. How will he conquer and overcome them ?? Well you have to read and find out. As always, Mr. Dickey takes the reader on an action packed adventure with Buenos Aires as the backdrop. It is there, Gideon will face his toughest battle as his mind and body are rattled to the core and riddled with needing to solve who is he?? Let's not forget, the infamous Midnight is looking to finish this war that Gideon has begun. With these elements intertwined makes for a read that will definitely not disappoint. EDJ does a great job at painting a colorful picture of murder and intrigue as Gideon unravels lies searching for the truth to skeletons from his own past. He also did what I had expected he would do and was grateful that he had. It has been a long time coming but well worth the wait. I love how you develop each character and their story. Catherine still has to many secrets that I still will put them all in danger again. Could Gideon really have a twin? If so who? Is he an assasin? Who is this mysterious MX99 that contact Gideon to help the Bajah man? Is the Beast or Midnight his father? You have left me wanting more answer... I really enjoyed this book and will be anxiously waiting for the next installment. Please don't have us waiting to long, I might go crazy!

Like everyone, I’ve been waiting 10+ years for this book and as usual, EJD has blown me away. I absolutely love Gideon. Which is crazy, because he’s a killer. However, that’s not the only thing he is, and it’s his other attributes that you fall in love with. In the first book, you’re introduced to one person and it seems that by the end of this book, we’ve been introduced to all facets of him. I’ve read some books where it seems the author doesn’t know their own characters from book to book. That is not the case with Gideon. He’s stayed true throughout all 4 books and I loooovd him today just like I did 10 years ago!

So I got my calendar and it immediately broke as soon as I took it out of the box. This is the 2nd time it’s happened this year. The 1st time I got 2 calendars and gave one to my aunt. She likes the show just as much as me. Gave it to her for Xmas and she swears to me that hers has not broke. I’m debating whether or not I want to attempt it a third time. I probably won’t. This problem really needs to get fixed!

Trivia, Facts, and so fun! My husband loves the calendar and we enjoy seeing what each new day will bring us as we rip off the previous one. Bummer that these calendars make the weekends share one page. :P

I got this the day it came out. It was waiting for me when I came home from seeing the movie. Unlike past Visual Guides, this one also includes vehicle cross sections. There are cross sections for several of the new vehicles, but not all of them. I was hoping for Cross sections the AT-ACT and the new Mon Cal cruiser, but that's a minor nitpick.There are data files for the major characters and vehicles. Some characters also have personal timelines and general back stories. There's even even a general timeline and galaxy map at the front of the book. The timeline presents the events on Years before Rogue One Mission or BR1, for instance the events in The Phantom Menace take place 32 BR1.Wanna know more about the background characters at Yavin? They're here. Wanna know more about the background characters on Jedha? They're here. Wanna know more about Saw's militia, the Rebels, the Empire? It's all here. If you want to know more about the characters and everything else in the movie, I highly recommend this book.

This is a comprehensive guide to the characters, creatures, droids, planets, and designs of "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story". There are a lot of new elements in the film which expand the Star Wars universe, but there are also many connections to the saga films, namely "A New Hope". The book discusses the many aspects of the film, both old and new. Of course, being an Ultimate Visual Guide, the book centers around high-resolution photos that fans will love. This is by far, the best Visual Dictionary to ever be released!The team wisely abandons the old format of white pages with a few pictures and completely revamps the format, separating it into chapters and totally changing the layout of each page, focusing on factions and locations.This is the most "Visual" of all the Visual Dictionaries, containing massive pictures and close ups of props, characters, costumes and screenshots from the film that highlight the detail of the amazing production design.This new format should totally be adopted for all future Visual Dictionaries and in the inclusion of the Cross Sections is by far my favorite feature. You don't have to buy a second book just to see a few (cool) drawings of vehicle cutouts. It's all in here!Unlike The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi Visual Dictionaries, this actually feels like a guide to the film and expands on everything you see in it. It connects to the larger universe and each page has something entertaining about it, whether it's the little stories Pablo writes about a random extra, or the great photos of the various aspects of costumes and production design.If you are a fan of the Star Wars Visual Dictionaries and/or Rogue One pick this up cause it's by far the best one ever!

Explanation of Rebel and Imperial ranks and uniforms. It has various timelines for most main characters and significant events w/ year. Awesome overall!

I love this book. I bought the hard copy and the the kindle edition to keep on my phone. Reading it helped me think about people in ways that are more generous and kind to people in general. It also helped me think about how I react to others in general. I don't reread a lot of books, but I try to reread this one at least once a year.If you are frustrated with your relationships, the people you work with, or even just the people in line at the store, READ THIS BOOK!One of the main principles:"Others will detect little clues of tone and expression, revealing how we really feel, even when we take pains to pretend otherwise....[T]hey're not likely to respond gratefully, but more likely to accuse us in return. And then we, in turn, will take offense, convince by their accusing response to us that we were right to accuse them in the first place!"It all goes back to the golden rule. If we treat people well and with genuine good will and charity in our hearts, they will react to us in kind. We can all take a few seconds to give someone the benefit of the doubt before accusing them of being out to get us as they cut us off in traffic, say something hurtful, or do something we don't like or understand.I actually had a major chance to apply these principles recently.I was in a bad car accident recently because someone dropped a queen size mattress on the freeway and I had to slam on my brakes and was rear ended. I was so mad at the stupid idiot who didn't take the time to properly secure their load and obviously didn't care about others. When the mattress owners showed up to pick up their mattress, not knowing they had caused an accident, they were a young married couple who probably didn't know that much about properly securing loads on a borrowed truck. Although there were consequences that needed to be faced, I was not killed or seriously injured, and I had been judging them as though they had intentionally dropped the mattress maliciously. I realized that I was wrong to think of them in that way. It was an accident. Everyone involved had insurance, and they probably learned a very valuable lesson from the experience.

I have read and reread this book, and need to read it again. It is beyond my ability to describe the changes it can make in your heart and in your relationships. I have already given away a few copies, and this one will go as a gift to someone very special in my family. I recommend this to anyone who has ever wondered what they can do to enhance their relationships, relate better to all those they interact with or learn to forgive past hurts. It does not, contrary to what a few reviewers have said, suggest that we become doormats or victims in any relationship, but read thoroughly and completely it empowers us to grow stronger and become part of the solution. After reading this I picked up Leadership and Self-Deception, Anatomy of Peace and the Outward Mindset by the Arbinger Institute, which C. Terry Warner helped to create. They fit beautifully with Bonds That Makes Us Free

This is my FAVORITE relationship book I've ever read. It has changed my life in powerful ways, and I continue to use it as a resource and recommend it to anyone asking for ways to find greater peace in their lives and relationships. I learned so much about myself, and so much about how to find greater happiness and love with the people I interact with. The author is gifted with an ability to share stories and experiences that I related to, and I found myself having numerous lightbulb moments of understanding with ways to change my own behavior, thoughts, and feelings allowing me to have a happier life and relationships. I didn't know how much I needed this book when I began reading it, but it changed my life for good and has continued to be a strong foundation for the joy and freedom I experience today. I consider this book as a more in-depth version of The Anatomy of Peace and Leadership and Self-Deception. It's a life-changer!

I love this book and how it opened my eyes to my relationships and more importantly, how I respond to outside circumstances. It teaches how to effectively make the changes that will bring more control to your life, better relationships and made me happier. I couldn't recommend it more!At first, it felt like it was repetitive, but each lesson added nuances to situations and helped me to see myself more clearly. It was hard to do that without seeing some of the control and change encouragement along the way in the first half, but truly changed my life for the good! I think I went through an entire highlighter and will read this book again- and I never reread books! I also listened on audiobook.Last, I got this to help me learn more about codependency and how to change it. I learned the skills I was lacking and didn't feel a need for a therapist after learning this. What a blessing!

I purchased this book during a particularly rough period in my life. I was seriously considering divorce after 23 years of marriage. I was not able to see past my own hurt and pain and after reading the book, I was able to honestly access my role in our issues and almost like a light bulb going on, was able to begin to change me and how I was reacting to my wife which made a world of difference. This book literally saved my marriage. If you're looking for a book that will make you feel good about "standing your ground" or gaining some kind of advantage at the expense of others, this isn't it. However, if you are looking for a book that will literally change the way you view your role in the lives of the people that surround you every day, I have read nothing better. I have purchased additional books for my older children and consider this the best book that they could possibly read as a "pre-marriage" help guide. This extends to relationships with friends, relatives and co-workers. Apart from scripture, the most inspired book that I have ever read.
