While most of the reviewers praise the author, Urofsky, one must remember that this is the life of Louis Braindeis, and it is that life which is so absolutely fascinating! As one who taught management courses for 35 years and had a employee-management relations consulting firm for 40 (now retired), all of those issues and cases which began in the early 1900s and later became part and parcel of management practices were touched by the enormous mind of Louis D. Brandeis. He was a man for his times and beyond. He embraced "Scientific Management" before Frederick W. Taylor's lectures were in print (1911, compiled by Taylor's students). Though Scientific Management had its faults, it was the basis for social revolution in industry/business. Brandies was a man of and for his times, but his times spanned decades, and he understood how the country was being shaped.My take on the book will be different from almost all others, and is a very personal one. My father studied this and Brandeis' work in 1927 at NYU. Without knowing it, I started teaching both in 1966, and NOW I find the basis for how business (and politics) was conducted in the 20th Century. What a revelation! And what a mind Louis Brandeis had! He foretold the collapse of "banking" sixty years prior, and of the political shenanigans almost a hundred years prior. What a person he was, able to become what he became and how he still made time for his wife and children and with what must be considered a fortune, how he lived a rather subdued life in his spare time is a marvel. I think he may have been the greatest 20th Century legal mind and thinkers, brought to life by Urofsky. I wish - having come from Boston - that I had known so much more about his papers when I was growing up. On the other hand, my own papers and thoughts would have paled by comparison, and I would have known it. What Einstein was to physics, Brandeis was to law and social order.That the law firm that Brandeis started in 1890 still exists today (125 years later) in Boston as Nutter McClennen & Fish is truly remarkable. Few have left such a legacy. Certainly no president has.

This new biography of Justice Louis D. Brandeis (1856-1941) is the most extensive study we have of the Justice. It runs over 900 pages including extensive notes. Who better to undertake such a task than Professor Urofsky, who has edited 7 volumes of Brandeis letters, written several prior book-length studies of the Justice, and authored numerous articles discussing his activities. While there are a number of earlier biographies of the Justice, including the classic by Alpheus Mason ("Brandeis: A Free Man's Life" [1946]), this is by far the most extensive and thorough look we are likely to have of Brandeis and his life. The author does a nice job of balancing LDB's professional activities with his private life. Urofsky came to know the Justice's two daughters (now deceased) while working on the letters volumes with David Levy, and they shared family photographs and recollections of their father and mother with him. He also has had extensive contact with the surviving Brandeis grandchildren, as least one of whom like Urofsky is involved in the work of the Supreme Court Historical Society here in Washington.Urofsky focuses on several topics not extensively covered in the earlier biographies. First, the Justice's wife, Alice, much as Holmes' wife and Frankfurter's spouse, suffered from period of mental exhaustion which required treatment including hospitalization on occasion, although her condition improved substantially over time. Their relationship is essential to understanding the world in which LDB lived, and Urofsky's discussion puts this situation into proper context. The second area where Urofsky departs from previous biographies is his exhaustive discussion of LDB's Zionist activities. He is well qualified to address this aspect of LDB's life since he has written a history of American Zionism. Urofsky is nothing if not thorough, but I sometimes wondered if quite so much of this very long biography (I would estimate 15%-20%) needed to be devoted to LDB's Zionist activities. Other biographers have discussed his Zionist leadership, but in far less space; on the other hand, they did not have Urofksy's intimate knowledge of the history of American Zionism and Brandeis' role. There is no question that Zionism became a major, or the major, interest of LDB beginning in 1912 and continuing for the remainder of his life. So the attention Urofsky devotes to this aspect of the Justice's life is certainly merited. He has convinced me that you can't fully understand LDB without an awareness of this aspect of his life.While Urofsky is respectful of Brandeis, he recognizes some of the LDB's shortcoming as well. Was LDB perhaps "cold, haughty, disdainful"? He certainly had no sense of humor and was somewhat distant. Urofsky also questions Brandeis' own view that he had an internal ethical sense which would foreclose him from ever acting inappropriately, hence he could advise Presidents, subsidize Frankfurter's political activities, and act as "counsel to the situation" in a dispute on behalf of all parties. In short, this is quite a well "balanced" biography not hagiography. One of the most valuable aspects of the book is found in the 142 pages of endnotes--a treasure chest of research for those interested in probing further into the life of this fascinating Justice. The photographic research is also outstanding and adds to the impact of the text. The book is comprehensive--covering LDB from his early years in Kentucky through building his law practice, his period as the "People's Attorney," working with Woodrow Wilson, his tough confirmation battle, his 23 years on the Supreme Court, his leadership of American Zionism, and his warm family relationships. A most complete study of this most complex of individuals.

This unusual biography documents the life of a remarkable man who preferred to stay behind the scenes until his brilliance brought him to the attention of the press and Woodrow Wilson who, against much opposition, appointed him to the Supreme Court. He began as a lawyer serving a select group of clients in the Boston area--a job in which he began his lifetime search for "the facts," without which he claimed no case can be honestly settled for the good of all. His talent was not so much as a muckraker but as a visionary who saw that the attorney's role was not only to represent the cause of one client--often one in the wrong--but to study and understand the cause of both parties in litigation, and to find a solution based on facts that would in some way please all. In that he was an unique voice for civility and sanity. He saw himself as a counsel rather than an opponent, and thus was able to cause change if areas of conflict in civic life that seemed on the surface impossible to reconcile. He judged right and wrong from on high, and from a firm settle of ethical principles he had learned as a young man, a Jew in alien corn. To Brandeis the interests of all the citizens of the state and the nation were his prime concern. Not what was best for one special interest, but what was best for all. A deeply moral man who served his country most honorably. Not many of those around anymore!

I bought this book, and then realized it was far beyond my cooking skills at this stage in my life. So as soon as I have finished reviewing it, it goes to my computer techie and his wife. She loves to read cookbooks but not to cook; he loves to cook.This book is not intended for the person who comes home from work exhausted and just wants somebody else to make dinner, and preferably bring it to her. She looks through her menu collection, selects the Chinese food restaurant almost by chance except for the fact that as soon as she gives them her phone number they know what her order will be, and waits with cash in hand until the food arrives. By then she is famished as well as exhausted, and if she tried to cook she would probably confuse the sugar with the salt.No, this book is intended for the dedicated cook like my techie--the person who takes infinite pains to produce something a thousand times better than what the closest takeout place would produce. He hurries home from a difficult day of work, to relax in the kitchen by making kung pao shrimp or spicy orange beef. He meticulously cuts every vegetable into identical pieces to create a work of art as well as food. By the time he calls the family to the table, his batteries are recharged and he has the energy to take the family out to a movie. He can forget about work until tomorrow morning.My daughter is one of those cooks, but she already has this book. So I will enjoy giving it as a gift to my favorite techie and his lovely wife, who is my dearest friend. I know they will both enjoy it, but for different reasons.I strongly recommend this book for anybody who has an interest in Chinese food, whether it is in reading about it or in actually doing it. It is a pleasing book to read, nicely laid out, with foods in logical order. I am too old and decrepit to use it, but that doesn't make it a bad book. If I were younger and healthier, I would keep it and learn to cook Chinese from it. But as I am, my husband would skin me if I set out on such an undertaking. No, Dan and Lana should have it, because they will use it.

Take it from me, this is the book you want to get first if you're intent on cooking Chinese food in your home. Parkinson provides a lot of helpful information and background in the beginning of the book you'll be hard-pressed to find anywhere else. Almost every recipe is something an American would love. It details which spices, vinegar, wines, sauces, etc. to buy at your ordinary grocery store. All you'll need is a wok after that (get the Lodge cast iron, it's the best and will last you a lifetime). Every menu can be adjusted to your tastes, meaning you can make them more authentic or you can further 'Americanize' them, as incorrect as that sounds. But if you're wanting food the entire family will enjoy, this is the book with which to start. THEN try others! Finally, visit [..] and watch some of the chinese cooking videos there. They will illustrate in real time many of these same menus, and there you'll see shortcuts and other tips that many recipe books take for granted, but don't bother to mention.__________________TWO CAVEATS: (1) Within many menus, you'll see a measure of an ingredient (such as p.48) followed by the word "divided." For example, it will read: "2 tsp salt, divided." But you have to read the full process instructions below the recipe to know that you only add 1/2 tsp of salt first, and then sprinkle the rest on at the end during stir fry. (2) Nowhere is a batter recipe defined. You're told to deep fry chicken, etc., in batter first, but no batter ingredients are listed throughout. (I presume it's left up to personal choice.)

Formatting: I can give it about a 3.7 here. Its kind of broken up and it can be hard to tell when a key note is about the previous recipe or the following one. The main reason to knock one star is there is no table of contents. The remedy is simple in this case. Simply go and bookmark the main headings for each area. On the next page after you will find hyper-linked entries for the entire section. It takes less than 3 minutes (also a one-time effort) and it works fine for me and thus isn't a total SNAFU. Content: I wouldn't call this a hardcore Chinese food cookbook. As other reviewers have stated, this is the kind of fare you might find at a local Americanized Chinese food joint. That's what I wanted so the content gets 5 stars. Overall Value: I give it a 4.4 stars for the current price and a solid 5 for anyone who just wants a primer on ingredients and combinations that are typical plus cooking methods with a wok.

This is my favorite Chinese cookbook. The recipes are easy to follow and give restaurant worthy results. I would like more pictures but otherwise, it's a great cookbook to have on hand. I borrowed it for several months on my Kindle but finally broke down when it was on sale and purchased the print version to have on hand in the kitchen. Easy to understand and use.My favorite recipes are the Hot and Sour soup (p. 55) and Spicy Chicken with Cashews (p. 163). The author gives a nice detail for Velvet Chicken which really help tenderize chicken. The dipping sauce recipes are also varied and delicious.

Don't let its inexpensive pricetag fool you; this is a truly wonderful, easy, and tasty cookbook! I have many Asian cookbooks, but this one has become my "go-to" favorite; it has easy instructions for beginning to intermediate books, ingredients that are (for the most part) available in your supermarket, and restaurant favorites as well as little-known delicacies. It contains no pics or graphics to run up the price tag; you already know what these dishes look like. The recipes are easily adapted to your family's taste preferences; you can add or delete ingredients as you please without picturing an ancient Chinese sage standing behind you with a cleaver. This is Chinese cooking as you like it - well done, author and publisher! Highly recommended.

This interesting book gave me a new view of Ellen White and her prophetic ministry. I grew up at a time when the church held her every word to be inspired and in some cases, even more instructive than the Bible. Over the years, I have had a number of experiences that helped me modify that view of Ellen White and her work. I was surprised to discover that much of her communication was severely lacking in specificity. Thus, many times her counsel was ignored or misunderstood. Several years ago, I visited Elmshaven, Ellen White’s last home. Her granddaughter was caretaker of the home and gave tours through the place. Some out-of-town guests were with us for our tour. They were very conservative and even a bit fanatical regarding Christmas. They viewed it as almost a sin to have any of the trappings of Christmas in their home and even worse in a church. My friends asked if Ellen White allowed them to have a Christmas tree. The granddaughter’s reply was quite memorable. "Oh my, yes!” she replied. “Grandma would go with us children up the canyon to make sure we selected a nice tree.” The granddaughter then described how Ellen White would sit in her chair and supervise the children as they decorated the tree. It made her seem so human. Valentine does the same, documenting her frailties as well as the great contribution she made to the growth and development of the Seventh-day Adventist church. He also recognizes the spiritual gift of administration, especially as seen in the work of A. G. Daniels. The last chapter which provides A Hermeneutical Paradigm for Understanding Ellen White in the 1890’s is worth the cost of the book. It provides an enlightened view of the nature of inspiration. If the book has a fault, it might be in the tremendous amount of detail the author presents. However, what some readers might view as tedious trivia, I found enjoyable and informative. I would recommend this book to every thoughtful Adventist, especially those searching to gain a greater understanding of the prophetic gift.

Patterson, PhDStanley Patterson is the Executive Director of the Christian Leadership Center and Professor of the Christian Ministry Department of Andrews University in Berrien Springs, Michigan, USA.This book exposes a period (c. 1888-1913) in Adventist history and in the life of Seventh-day Adventist prophet Ellen White that has been poorly reported and historically underexplored. Many of the episodes dealt with in the pages of this volume can be appropriately described as painful and troubling. As the Seventh-day Adventist Church matured and adopted organizational structures to deal with the complexities of growth, human nature and the predictable corruptions wrought by power and control revealed themselves in the lives of men and women charged with the sacred duty of providing spiritual leadership. The church and the ministries functioning as extensions of the church suffered the dysfunction and at times the abuse of leadership gone awry.During these years Ellen White, though physically distanced from the General Conference leaders due to her move to Australia, remained active in bearing testimonies intended to guide and influence actions and the direction of the church. Valentine makes a biblical case supporting her intense involvement in church governance by referencing the political behavior of prophets such as Samuel (loc 429), Nathan (ibid), Ahijah, Micaiah (loc 437) and others who counseled and advised kings and rulers as a regular part of their prophetic ministry. Ellen White’s testimonies like those of her ancient counterparts were often resented, ignored, or misunderstood. Her relationship with the presidents were consequently fraught with tension and at times conflict due to the failure on the part of leaders to act on her counsel.The narratives shared also raise a question regarding Ellen White—whose voice was being expressed, God or hers? Was she influenced by the shabby treatment she received from church leaders and especially leaders in the publishing work and did this poor treatment influence the tone of her testimonies? As Valentine delicately points out, “some aspects of temperament and personality became perhaps, more noticeable during her sunset years…” (loc 5556). In plain words she became at times quite harsh in her words and reactions to leaders who seemed to be doing the best they could in a challenging context. Thus we see a human side to the prophet that should not surprise us since her ancient counterparts again were presented in both their failures and in their victories. But, “such things did not invalidate her gift” (ibid).This is not a book for the immature. It reveals the raw challenge of leading and in turn being led by God’s servant. It reveals not only the humanity of the prophet but lays open the humanity of the leaders who served during the uncertainty of the “turn of the 20th century” church. The reader is exposed to the reality of the personal debt carried by Ellen White incurred by her in agreement with leaders who later betrayed her by withholding royalties that might have mitigated the debt. This indebtedness was so restricting on her life that there were times she fell months behind in paying something as essential as grocery bills not to mention the salaries of people dedicated to helping with her publications.In some sense the candid expose of this period is refreshing to a reader who too often reads only the good news but is “shielded” from the adventures and follies that make up life behind the scenes. Though painful and sometimes difficult to read, this book is a must for anyone wishing for a candid snapshot of life for the church in these formative years. The battles, the broken relationships, and the amazing growth that emerged from what at times appeared to be irreconcilable chaos provide powerful lessons for us more than a century hence. The book is especially helpful as a resource to church leaders who would wish to avoid the pitfalls that ensnared early leaders, some of whom completely lost their way and separated from the church.Read it, reflect on the narratives, and praise God for a Spirit that has allowed the survival of a church that has subsequently blessed millions.

This book was recommended by one of the East Indian doctors I work with. He and I frequently get into spiritual conversations and I had read The Autobiography of A Yogi, and he said to read this one as well. I was blown away by this intriguing story of one man's spiritual journey from Jewish college student in America to a great spiritual leader of our time. I was trying to tell a friend about the story, it had so many wonderful and frightening moments, and she said it sounded like I was telling her about a movie. From flying to Europe sitting next to a Rock star as a poor student, or traveling penniless across the Middle East, to meeting Mother Theresa and the Dalai Llama, to living in caves and sleeping on the banks of the Ganges, this journey through India and back is mesmerizing. I am rereading it, just to experience the adventure again and to remember that perseverance and inner longing and drive can propel you to greater awareness and peace. You won't be able to put it down. Someone, please make this into a movie!

Upon searching for God within myself, I came upon this book and was totally amazed how much his journey of searching for God, had answered a lot of my own quest for the same. I also have a love of India and not having the chance to visit India, he had shown me just how Spiritual and wonderful the people are of India.This book is outstanding and I could not put it down. I found him to be my friend traveling for God, and his travels made them my travels....His way and expertise in his writings, just put you right there with him throughout all of his adventures in his life of searching.I highly recommend this book to you and especially one who searches for God, to read this wonderful Journey Home! You will want to finish it, but will be sad when you do. But, his story will remain in your own heart forever, for sure!Many wonderful Blessings given to you.

This book is deeply charismatic and ingenuously personal. Radhanath Swami (aka Richard Slavin) takes you into his heart and invites you along to find your true self, even as he has done. His traditional spiritual initiation takes place during an arduous (and joyful) pilgrimage throughout India. The needs of his human body are many, but he learns to transcend them all, one by one, in a most dramatic and mind-bending fashion. The journey lasts about two years and is filled with descriptions of countless tests of personal self-mastery, most all involving life-threatening dangers of some sort, such as homelessness, sickness, near-starvation, violence, extreme weather, rabid and venomous animals, quicksand, dysentery, lack of sanitary services, etc -- all borne with supreme self-effacement and deep humility. For each extreme trial or test, there is also a blessing in the form of instant connection with Source.The love he expresses for himself and his fellow man is clearly what sustains his body and heart. Gradually his inner will to commit to lifelong service as a devotee of Krishna becomes stronger until he is able to surrender totally to his Path and ultimate Guru, Sri Pradhupad, the founder of the modern Hare Krishna sect. It is the story of a man who leaves his family and friends behind and sets off on an unplanned and arduous international search to find God in imitation of countless saints of the past. It is richly told, a magnetic tale with special appeal that only comes from a genuine spiritual intention to reveal one's truest self. It is a gift to the heart. I was deeply touched by this book.

I saw one or two skeptical reviews before I bought the book and thought they were just being cynical. After reading through the book, which I did enjoy, I was left with the feeling that he had greatly embellished his tale, if not outright fabricated certain parts. Not a great thing in a so-called spiritual memoir.

This is one of the most amazing stories of the search for God I have ever read. I traveled much of the same route in India and Nepal and find his descriptions of people, places and hospitality to be much the same as mine. I had no previous knowledge of Radhanath Swami and several times I found the experiences of this teenager immediately falling into the inner circle of the many saints and holy men he was seeking to be un-believable. With so much synchronisety I began to believe this was complete fiction. There are several videos on youtube where he speaks of these adventures . I see now that his dedication and suffering has paid off in finding what he was seeking and bringing him to what he has become today. Perhaps the lesson for me is that when we truly have our heart set on achieving something and are willing to do whatever it takes to get there we have magical and sometimes unbelievable help from higher powers than our own.If you have ever experienced this part of the world from ground level you will especially enjoy Radhanath's excellent descriptions of the people, places and events.

This autobiography simply blew me away. Radhanath Swami (formerly Richard Slavin) tells his story with such richness of subtle details and paints such a vivid picture of moving encounters and profound spiritual experiences of his journey that you feel you're there, sitting on his shoulder. Easily one of the best autobiographies and spiritual books I have ever read. I read this on my Kindle but I'm buying the hardback or paperback version too as it deserves a prominent place on my bookshelf.This is a must-read for all spiritual and religious seekers (and not only for Hindus).

I enjoyed the read and feel as if like the author, I too was being led to this book. I had never heard of Radhanath Swami before until I began searching for a yoga instructor class which led to me finding a free lecture by him. It mentioned this book which I purchased to read before going to hear him. I didn't get to read it all prior to but finally finished it a few months later.If you are looking for a story about a spiritual quest to find a home within then you will enjoy this book. It shows us how perseverance toward a goal and faith it will happen can conquer all. It gives me hope that I will achieve my same goal though my path is greatly different.

Among theatrical costumers, Norah Waugh is a staple, a gotta-have-it. She has done volumes on both men's and women's attire, based on her extensive knowledge of garments and their construction.This is more than just a picture book; there are illustrations of the patterns used in constructing the garments men wore over four centuries. If you're interested in drafting your own patterns, this becomes an invaluable resource. Novices beware,however. Don't expect McCall's or Butterick. There are only small-scale sketches of the major patterns pieces, with the barest hint of scale. There are no instructions for assembling the pieces; you are on your own (and, even though I've been making clothes for many, many years, I have found myself baffled at how certain pieces from Waugh's drawings are to be sewn together).Another weakness is the lack of detail about certain items. I was recently commissioned to recreate shirts for Benjamin Franklin, circa 1780-90, so I naturally turned to Nora's book. No problem finding depictions of the shirt itself, but when it came to the neckwear, she didn't include anything that helped me.It bears mentioning that since most of the garments that have survived to be examined in the 20th Century were made for the well-to-do, Ms. Waugh's book will not be a great place to look for peasant or working-class garb. In addition to surviving garments, she relies heavily on paintings, particularly portraits. Again, only the wealthy and/or noble were typically the subjects.Nonetheless, if you are researching and/or attempting to construct period menswear, Norah Waugh's books are truly worth having.

A great addition to my reference​ books.

A great resource for seeing the way garments were cut for men. This book is definitely more for someone who has an interest in the history of tailoring and a good understanding of how clothing is cut and assmebled. There are patterns that can be enlarged and used as a starting point to fit a modern body. I highly recommend this book for a working, research library.

This book was recommended to me three years ago as a supplement to costume history books. It is an extremely useful book as it not only provides images of clothing pieces but also historical information regarding the construction of them including layouts of pattern pieces. This is a great book for anyone seriously interested in creating period accurate clothing.

This book is the only one I've found that gives decent cutting diagrams for men's garments. I love it and have successfully made a few of the garments in it.This book is not for beginners. Don't expect to be able to just scale up one of the patterns and get sewing. Waugh assumes you know how to sew, make and alter patterns. The only techniques mentioned are ones we don't use commonly in modern sewing and those are really only touched on out of curiosity's sake.The only real downside is the lack of back views of many garments. Some of the coats have back views, but many of the breeches and other garments are forgotten--possibly because they're not normally fancy--but for someone who is trying to get the fit right on a pair of breeches it would be very helpful!I recommend it to historical costumers who are interested in accurate recreation and also to theatre costumers as a visual reference for a stage interpretation. Not for someone who wants a quick costume for the weekend or for a novice sewer.

I was a little surprised when I recieved this book that it is not quite as beefy as Norah Waugh's _Cut of Women's_ clothes. I was however very pleased with it's cotent. About half of the patterns seem to be taken from pre-1780s and the other half from 1840 on. This was a little disappointing as I was looking for some good Regency Jackets for my husband. There are how ever several frock coats that I can easily ajust the cut to to get the look I want. This is a great book as far as I can tell but I am still undecided as to whether it is worth the steep price tag.

I never thought I would ever sew. However, my brother and I got the grandiose idea that we would make ourselves leather buff coats to wear during re-enactments with our 17th century living history group. We needed a pattern and started with research at the local college library and found this book. Although neither one of us had ever sewn before, we were able to take the coat pattern from this book, adapt it to fit our bodies and sew a coat for ourselves out of buff leather. There is a whole chapter on 17th century clothing which has patterns for breeches, doublets, cassacks and sword hangars. It also has photos of actual museum pieces. If I could use the patterns in the book, than anyone with any skill will have no problems. This book is an good resource for those wishing to sew their own period clothing.

Great review of logical fallacies with good examples of each of the fallacies described. If you aren't familiar with logical fallacies, read this book and you may never look at news and politics the same again. See how easy it is to jump to bad conclusions by biting on a fallacy dangled before you like a worm on a hook.

I got this book for a little extra work for my homeschooled 8th grader. He began it at the beginning of the school year. Doing a couple lessons a week, he has nearly completed it.He has found it enjoyable, and never complains about doing the lesson. He is definitely learning, too. He has told me when I'm using one of these fallacies. I think his favorite is the red herring. Or, maybe I'm more susceptible to using that one!This book is a great introduction to logical fallacies. The author makes the point in the introduction that the book covers a very small subset of logic. But, it is a great start. I find that many people have not learned critical thinking skills. Reading this book, and working through the exercises, is giving my son a good start to learning those skills.

In the story "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe" the Professor is trying to help Lucy solve a problem using logic and reasoning. When she acts like that train of thought is new to her, he makes the comment, "What do they teach children in schools these days?" That is how you will feel when you read this book. My seventh grader has it as required reading for a class I enrolled him in and this should really be taught in schools. Every child needs to know how to reason logically and how to detect fallacious reasoning in advertising, debates and rhetoric. This is a skill we need daily in our media saturated culture. Whether you are in junior high or a grown adult you will find this an enriching read.

I enjoyed reading through this book with my daughter's as a great intro to logical fallacies. The author's examples and humor made this new subject understandable and fun. We gained confidence in recognizing bad reasoning in our everyday lives thanks to this easy to read book. As a homeschool parent, I especially appreciated the review at the end of each chapter which helped keep the fallacies fresh in our minds. We have been inspired to dig deeper into logic.

Nothing is more important than teaching children logic and economics. The latter finds a sound foundation on the former.

I am so glad my daughter had this as part of her homeschool regimen via Amblesideonline,org.I think this is very valuable information for people living in this media driven world. It is important to know when people are trying to manipulate you, for whatever reason.

My 5th grader was drawn to this book, though I bought it for my 7th grader. It is attractively arranged, with illustrations which draws the reader.

My two sons (ages 13 and 14) loved this curriculum and it made it easy for them to learn what fallacies are all about. I highly recommend.
